Hi fifties sisters! I'm getting sleeved right before my 52nd Birthday. I am worried because of my age and worried about looking a lot older. I have a whole host of health issues and I hope & pray to be healthy after surgery :)

I am 66, sleeved on March 11. I have lost 60 lbs and have had no issues so far. Everyone says I look younger- I am not so sure because I think my wrinkles are more prominent. Doesn't matter- I can

Jeanie, I'm 52 and was sleeved 2 months ago. It's one of the BEST decisions I've made in my 52 years, right behind marrying my wonderful husband and having kids! You've made a great decision and it

Just turned 52. Was sleeved this past week. I would be happy to be a skinny old lady! Lol! This will add years to our lives. Congrats!

I was 51 when sleeved last year. I've been told I look 10-15 years younger though I definitely have some forehead wrinkles now. I really need to see about botox! No second chin for me but I definitely need to do something about this hanging belly! The sleeve is the best thing I ever did for myself!

I am 56 and scheduled to have surgery on August 15. I will turn 57 on August 30. I am worried about the wrinkles and saggy skin too. Already have saggy skin from up and down weight over the years I guess plastic surgery will be in my future. I am scared but I have thought about this for years.

Good luck ! I know health is more important than sagging skin, but we can only hope :)

I am 52, almost 6 months out. Love my sleeve and my new lease on life! Was 51 at time of surgery and turned 52 about 9 wks later.

I was sleeved at 54. Check out my before and after pictures in my gallery! I think I look younger. I sure feel younger!

I hate to be so technically challenged but I'm fairly new here...how do I find your before and after photos? It always gives me hope and inspiration when I see the actual results!

If you check on Lynda's picture, it will bring you to her profile.....once there, there is a little menu on the left....click on "gallery".....and that should pull up her pictures. PS Welcome!

Umm, that's "click" on her picture....not check LOL

Hi Jeanie,

I had surgery the day after my 51st birthday, I too had a host of medial issues including diabetes and a previous heart attack. I was desperate to change my ever shortening length of life. This surgery was my answer. I was prepared to look older and have more wrinkles on my face, but in fact people tell me that I look 15 years younger, that I have a sparkle in my eye that wasn't there before, and that I look like I really healthy. I'm not at goal yet , but I will get there. For the first time in 20 years I do feel healthy, I actually ran/walked my first 5K this weekend. Life will be sooo much better than before. Even if you do have a few more wrinkles.

Best wishes.

Your post makes me happy :) Thank you for your insight. As my surgery date gets closer there are days that I have reservations. My family isn't quite on board so this website has helped me so much! love my 50's sisters & brothers <3

I also had surgery at 51, actually 1.5 months before my 52nd birthday. I have had 5 surgeries in 5 years including an almost deadly infection and am facing another spinal surgery in the next few months,so I know health issues. I was convinced it would take me forever to lose weight but here I am 84lbs lighter. I wish you the best on your upcoming surgery.

Not sure who in your family is not on board, but I took my Mom to a support group and to one of my surgeon appts pre-op. She was scared of the surgery and that helped settle her fears.

I had surgery at 50 last December, and turned 51 in May. I think I look a lot younger, and my family thinks I do, too. My kids say I'm a lot more fun, now :) I do have a flabby neck where the extra chins were, and I admit, it bothers me some, but not as much as the fat! I also have a saggy behind, droopy thighs, and flabby arms....but it's still better than before!! I will probably have surgery, but even if I don't, I'm usually clothed, and clothes hide a lot! Good luck to you!
