Anyone told to get IVC filters.

Not me! sounds pretty invasive and high risk. why would they want you to get one?

Do you have a history of DVTs (blood lots?). Are you unable to take heparin and/or warfarin? Do you have a clotting disorder the predisposes your blood to clotting (Von willebrand disease, lupus phospholipid, antithrombin three deficiency?)

These are the reasons I can think that would be recommended to you....otherwise good old low molecular weight heparin given as a shot in your belly twice a day should do the trick!

None of those things. I was just slightly over the BMI recommendation. I meet with surgeon tomorrow and will have to discuss this with him. I am pretty mobile and active too

Do a little research and voice your concerns. IVC filters have risks.

Yeah I don't understand why you'd need it. Def ask your surgeon why he does that and if it's standard for him or if he's worried about something specifically with you. Please do let us know what he says bc I am curious now...

No IVC filters needed. Yippee.
