December 29, 200619 yr Dr. Curry: I have been reading all that I can about Erosion. I have a couple of questions. 1) Is it a result of the technique?? i.e. too many sutures, poor placement?? 2) I have also read that the incident increases in long term patients?? So will it happen sooner or later to everyone???? Thanks, just trying to wade through the clutter!!!!
December 31, 200619 yr To be honest I think we know very little about erosions. My guess is that they are either due to technique or to bands being too tight or possibly a chronic slip. As far as the technique goes sometimes these cases are very difficult and it is impossible to end up with a perfect result every time, try as we might! Early erosions are probably more likely technique related, late erosions the opposite.
