I still FEEL fat

So today I got on the scales and was SUPER excited because I had reached a weight loss of 70lbs! 40 more to go!!!! I haven't been this thin since I started college. I know my life is better now, healthier, and happier....

but here is my problem and I was wondering when it went away for yall: I still FEEL fat...I am fitting into clothes that I haven't ever been able to wear, people tell me all the time how good I am looking, but I just don't feel it.

I went to try on new clothes and they fit me, but when I looked in the mirror i still saw my old fat self (even though I am not my old self).

Does anyone have any tips or personal experiences that can help me through this? I feel like at -70lbs I should feel dramatically different (appearance wise)

I dont want to seem like a complainer or a whiner, because I am not. I am so happy that I can now jog with my dog, go for hikes with my dad, and just have energy! Just the mind is a powerful thing =]

Thank yall!

  • It's all head stuff. I'm three years out and wearing 4's and 6's, I still have days when I feel fat. It's crazy. At a support group I attended prior to surgery, we were talking about how they operate

Would it help y'all out if others on VST tell you how great you look? We see the progress over the months even if you do not see it yourself in the mirror. If you hear it enough times, then it has to

I'm kind of that way, but different. I was so focused on my goal weight that I just didn't realize that I was thinner yet. I never changed out of my habit of hoodies and baggy jeans. I was pleasantly

Thanks everyone for yalls support and comments. I am glad that I am not the only one who's mind is "slower" than my weight loss =]. I will say this: My mom and I went clothes shopping and she knew I was still in that "I look fat mode". She made me try on new styles of clothing that I never used to wear EVER like a thin V-neck and "slim" shorts. I used to wear a 42 waist and to my amazement I was in a 36 and one pair a 34! The shirts fit me and when I saw myself in the mirror...it changed for me. When I went to my friends house she just stared at me and was like "WOW! YOU REALLY HAVE LOST WEIGHT GREG!"

it's getting there. I have looked through most of yalls profiles and EVERYBODY is looking great!! We will get there, and CONGRATS to everybody on our great accomplishments! Keep it up

Something I read on here over three years ago, when I was pre-op. When you're out with a friend, your spouse, family member.....have them point out someone who is YOUR size. It is shocking, seriously, to see a stranger and see THEIR size and hear that is how others see you. It is still surprising to me.

I'm going to have to do this as well. Sounds like a good idea. Knowing me though I'll go up to the stranger and make them stand side by side with me just to make sure haha
