I lost 70 lbs in the first year, and a bit less than 50 in the second year. (I hope that answers your question--it wasn't very clear.)

I've been a pretty slow loser...I lost pretty well at first and then went thru some major stalls while I readjusted my eating, etc. It has taken me 2 years to lose 100 lbs. But, I can say that before the band I would have lost 85, gained 140, and would have been on my next diet between bouts of hating myself for failing again! I'm SO glad I'm NOT there!!! I have to be honest and say I have had to be patient with myself and that has not been easy. I really thought I'd have all my weight off by now, but that is not the case!

Are you asking how long it took to lose 100 pounds, or for people who had 100+ to lose - how long for them to reach goal?

If it's the former, I think I hit 100 before my 6 months was up. If not it was shortly after. I don't recall offhand, I'd have to go back to my weight logs to know for sure.

If it's the latter, dunno, I'm still about 60 - 75 lbs from goal.

Becca,

I started exercising about 3 months after the band. For me I really needed to lose some weight first and then I was able to get moving. I did do yoga even before the band... just to get some mobility going. Now I am on a couch potato to 5km program - I'm on week 2 and so far so good. As well I now do weight training 3 or 4 times a week.

So... it started slowly, but yesterday I said to my husband... boy that run felt good... and then I went.... did I just say that?

Good luck to you Becca!!!!

My total wt loss goal is 127 lbs. I am sort of a slow loser. So far in 7 months I have lost 38 lbs and I hope by my 1 year bandiversary to have lost 61 lbs. My doctor has told me all along that it would take me 18 months to 2 years to reach goal.

Every one is different, but the good news is that the data so far shows that long term wt loss and long term sustained wt loss is more sucessful than GB.

Yea for lap-band.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
