bcbs il process?

Does anyone know how the long approval process of bcbs il with a ppo is? Is there extra criteria?

My doctors office will be filing in July so hopefully it won't take long and I can have surgery sometime in August.

Just got approved this week...took about 10 biz days. Had a little confusion in requirements BCBSIL needed, but got it worked out within 2 days. Surgery date coming soon!

Depending on your plan that your employer chose, I had no requirements, at 100% cover with no deductible. Doc office submitted paperwork on Wednesday afternoon, they called Friday and had it approved!

Good luck!

Hello, I am new here and have bcbsil and need to find a place to have the surgery that my insurance covers. I had an appt. in Herrin, Il. but had to cancel because they are not in my ppo network. Does anyone know the ones in Illinois? I live in southern Illinois.

Hey I too am going to Herrin !!!!!!!! If you stick with them let me know It would be great to have a battle Buddy My apt is June 6 !!! Im so excited you posted on here I too have bcbs

ok, thanks. Can anyone tell me who they chose in Illinois? Any referrals?

I talked with Herrin Hospital and they said they are apart of the PP0 plan, I believe Blue Distinctions are BCBS elite hospitals who have done surgery for a while.

Does anyone know the difference (cost wise) in going to a Blue Distinction Center and not?

When I called and asked a couple weeks ago, they said there was no difference for me. I am going through Barrington Surgeons and Good Shepard Hospital. The way my Dr explained the difference is that the Centers are one stop shops where as I had to go see a therapist in Schaumburg. Otherwise it went very fast.

I started my journey June 6 first doc vist in herrin getting sleeved July 17 things are going really fast !!

Thank you. I could not figure that out.

Having my first appointment this Tuesday...BMI of 40 with sleep apnea...I have BCBS of IL through my dads work which i believe is PPO.... I am really concerned about approval...I have read several threads and nothing is consistent....surgeons office said they no longer require six month supervised diet which i am postivs of but do they require a letter of medical necessity and weight history!? I have three years weight history about 35 but I moved to North Carolina And I cannot manage to get a hold of my medical records from my previous doctor. Any advice???

NO NEED TO BE CONCERNED. YOU CAN CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE TO SEE IF IF THE GROUP YOUR FATHER IS INCLUDED IN COVERS BARIATRIC SURGERY AND IF SO WHAT ARE THE STIPULATIONS OR DO THEY FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES OF BCBS-IL. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED HELP WITH THAT I WORK FOR BCBS-IL

Thanks for your response I go for my final appointments September 4th should get paper work submitted that way,..insurance specialist at surgeons office told me the basic plan it what I need to look at...just a stressful process ill be okay once approval comes through fingers crossed :-) thanks if I need any additional info or help I will be sure to let you know...thanks so much
