Time release Mucinex. Can I take it?

Very snotty and wanted to take a 12 hour time release caplet cause I know they work but since surgery in 12/21 I have not been sick or taken anything stronger than a vitamin. Any advise welcomed.

    At my support group meeting yesterday they said after surgery time release pills don't work because they can't dissolve like they're supposed to in our new stomach.

    Thanks I had not thought of that. I figured I could take it and go to bed. I'm going to think about it a bit longer and ask my PCP tomorrow.
