Just 3 meals a day??

Recommended Posts

I have been eating more than 3 meals a day because i spread them out over the day and eat smaller amounts. I know we are not supposed to do this but is it really bad to do? For Breakfast I had a hard boiled egg. For lunch today I had a few chicken strips with ranch. Then after about 3 hours I just had another hard boiled egg and will have dinner later on. Plus i try to get my sugar free pudding in at night. I am still not meeting my calorie requirements for the day although my Protein is great. Any ideas anyone on what your doing to keep yourself full during the day? Maybe I just need a 2nd fill.

:D

Cindy, I for one haven't been told "3 meals a day." To my thinking, keeping yourself from getting hungry is more important than eating on a schedule.

Are you losing weight? You may actually need to increase your calories somewhat--it sounds like you're barely getting ONE good meal before dinnertime!

Anyway, for what it's worth, I'm certainly not going to worry about three meals a day. Especially between lunch and dinner--that can be 7 hours some days and that's just way too long!

I think im able to eat too much I have 1.8 cc's in my band. Im going in for a fill at the end of the month but for example today i had a large wendy's chilli and a cheese and bacon baked potato from wendy's. I could have eaten more. Im worried im going to stretch my band but it seems im hungrier than i was before. What is wrong with me. Im not losing any weight and it's driving me crazy. How depressing. I am down 70 pounds but i need to keep losing and I haven't lost even a pound in over a month...

Wow, a large chili and a potatoe is a little bit to much... But loosing 70lbs is great!!!! Sometimes your body needs a rest from loosing all that weight, and it plateaus.

Maybe it's time for a fill???

I have a fill scheduled for the end of the month. What does a normal day's meal seem like for you leo? What do you eat for Breakfast lunch and dinner. I think I am doing something wrong cause i was losing great and then it just stopped... grrrr

Your doing great Cindy, you have been able to loose 70lbs since january. Thats great!!! Your only suppose to loose on average 2 lbs a week.

I can't wait till I loose as much as you!!

Just go for a fill and you should be back on the "loosing" track again lols.

I normally drink lots of Soups. I just open a can on chunky Soup and add some mixed veggies in it and I split it in 2 portions.

hi cindy! i think 70 lbs is AWSOME and you are doing great! i'm sure your body is taking a rest.

now on food portions my doc says it 1/2 cup per portion. no more. you can buy mini containers at wal-mart for 50 cents each and each meal should fit in there they only hold a 1/2 cup. this may be more do-able after a fill. or buy the snack size ziplock baggies, they are more of a bandster size!

you could alway up your Water intake and restrict your carbs a little. if i lose 70 lbs though in 7-8 months i think i will be extactic!!!!

GETTING BANDED ON MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have been with my boyfriend for 5 years and i have been putting off marriage because i want to look pretty in my dress and not cringe when I/people see my photo. not to mention i dont want to pay out the ying yang for a custom made tent that i call a dress. i am happy to say next year i may actually do it!

keep us posted!

Cindy, Michelle

Congratulations

I put off my Wedding 2 years because of my weight, now I'm starting to plan it. Maybe in Hawaii? My sister would tell me "you'll never lose weight just do the wedding" Im 2 weeks post-op and 20 lbs down, I haven't even told her about the band yet lol.

First of all it sounds like you definitely need a fill. I am a veteran of fills and eventhough everyone is different as to where their sweet spot is...I was not restricted at all under 2.0cc of fill. I currently have 2.6cc of fill and although I am quite restricted right now I will be getting another fill in 3 weeks because my weight loss is slow. I am 7 months out like you are and I have only lost 40lbs. I am disappointed that the weight loss hasn't been faster, but I am also grateful for the 40lbs gone. I feel so much better!

As for 3 meals a day, from what I have been told by my personal trainer, who is a fitness guru and may other medical people in health and weight loss...6 small meals a day is optimum and keeps your blood sugar level more even. It doesn't overload your system with a lot of food at one time that creates an insulin response. It will keep you more satisfied and less likely to overeat at one meal. The band is a perfect tool for this way of healthy eating. When we reach the right level of restriction we can't eat much at one meal to begin with.

According to my doctor, he wants his patients to get in 60 to 80g of Protein a day and that is hard to do in 3 meals with a properly filled band.Good luck with your next fill!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
