Liquid Diet Strict?

I've been lurking for 3 months and decided its time for my first post. I'm looking at starting the pre-op liquid diet. I realize medically why it's necessary, but question how strict you have to actually be. And what the repercussions are if you have one or two meals during the duration of the diet. Looking forward to a better life.
