Do i need separate approval for the dr to fix my hernia during surgery??? I dont want it to not be covered !!!!

I don't think you do because it's a common procedure that's done with the surgery, most people don't even know they have the hernia. I didn't know and my surgeon fixed it and insurance covered it.

My doctor fixed one for me at the same time as my surgery but they took care of notifying the insurance company. I didn't have to do anything. You should check with the person in your doctors office that handles the insurance and see what their policy is. I just had to cover the extra to the doctor after the surgery was over.

If located prior to surgery I am sure the doctor's office will include it in the authorization. This was the case with me and there was no problem with authorization and payment by the insurance company.
