Pre-Op Liquids

Hey guys, waiting to talk to my nurse about surgery date & prep. Looking over their guide I don't see that they 1-2wks liquids only. Ill confirm once she finally calls me, but wanted to see if anyone didn't have to liquids only before surgery.

There are a lot of variables that go in to it. My surgeon required anyone over a certain BMI to go full liquid for 2 weeks, others just one week, and then everyone was required to do the clear liquid the day before surgery thing. I've read a lot of people that said they didn't do it, but I suppose it depends on weight, surgeon's preference, etc.

It's not like doing a two week liquid diet is going to do you any harm, so hey, do it if you want!

Lol true, I know it would be best to help lose some of the weight before surgery. Just thinking of everyone who was to encounter me lol, already grouchy from quitting smoking & the stress of surgery, don't wanna bite anyone's head off from being on liquids only, was gonna save that for after surgery ;p

Well, the nice thing about post surgery was that the LAST thing I wanted was anything food related, so liquids were just fine by me. The two week shake pre-op wasn't so bad. You basically just need to find lots of ways to dress them up so that you're not just having these plain shakes all the time. I would have a little steamed broccoli every day to break up the boredom of shakes. Even then, by the end of two weeks you're really sick of them XP
