Self fills.

Has anyone out there done a self fill? I know there's lots of reasons for not filling oneself, however I'm still curious. It's just that I've got this bundle of huber needles that the doc gave me for emergency unfills and I'm sorely tempted to do some self care.

I was banded a year ago... I was eating soft FISH... and small bites at that. It got stuck. I was sooooooo sick. I went to the emergency room (Hartford CT) I was in the hospital for hours... they had a hard time finding the needles... and finding someone who could do the unfil. Honestly, at that point I was so sick I could have/would have done it myself. OR if I had the needle with me, it would have made it easier. I would love to have a needle just in case of an emergency. Getting stuck with fish was unexpected. Throwing up over and over till I hurt so badly was horrible. I'd love a needle to keep with me in an emergency situation. YES, I do think I could do it to save me hours of agony. I'm going to ask the doctor about it myself!

hey all....

k will this might come as a shock to alot of you from reading your posts but coz i was waiting for my doc in prague to do a second fill (no differene with first) i put back on the 1st that i lost :) i was not happy.... he kept making excuses not to make ect.... tried everywhere i could think of over here.... no luck as i did not have the surgery with them.... went to see my old weight loss doc and she wrote me out a presciption for the saline and needles and showed me how to do it myself.... i did my second refill two days ago on my own.... no probs what so ever  and now i am feelin a little more full but will wait six weeks till i add some more in......

i know that u might think i am silly.... but its very hard over here to get refills done....

hi everyone who has posted that they did a fill and bought the stuff online please email me with info I really need this kit

It's sad that the cost and lacking availability have people taking these measures. I'm going to bring this up to my surgeon at the next follow up so more medical people who have pull in the lapband world become aware and hopefully they can be our voice to people who have any type of control on costs and availability. If they become aware they might loose business, maybe things will change with cost and doing fills on patients they didn't do the band on. I suggest no matter what your view on this is you voice to your surgeon that people are buying fill kits online easily and just doing it themselves due to cost and availability.

I see why people are trying this. After reading this I gave a 2 second thought if I could also do it myself. I then quickly thought no matter what, I cant stick around my stomach with a needle myself and be confident I'd do what it takes.
