Pre-Op Diet Question

Okay, so my pre-op diet is 1 Protein shake for Breakfast, 1 for lunch, and a salad with protein for dinner - additional shake if needed.

If I get hungry in the middle, is it okay to drink broth or eat green veggies to curb the appitite?

drink another shake high in protien

My NUT told me for my pre-op (same as you 2-3 shakes & 1 meal with protein) that I could have vegetables during the day it I wanted. Give yours a call or email and ask what you can supplement with.

ask your nut, but I would try Water, then ice (sometimes crunching is what we are wanting), get away from anything you are doing that is routine, if you can...

...if you are still hungry, consider a high protien/low carb option...

again, ask your doc

Yes, I suppose you can but try and resist if at all possible, post-op it won't take any effort at all to not eat so anything you can do before hand will jump start the weight loss.

The pre-op diet is just a precaution and as I stated a weight loss jump start. ANYONE can do a starvation diet for a few days knowing surgery is just around the corner.

I know 2 guys who went out the night before their surgery and pigged out, nachos, chicken wings, tequila and anything else they thought they may miss post-op. They went ahead with surgery and it went OK, however they were sick as dogs and miserable. The combination of anesthesia, surgical trauma and being hung over made them really regret doing it. Having to take a massive dump 2 days post-op after getting dehydrated and constipated didn't feel good either. Pushing hard post-op just doesn't male for a pleasant day.
