I was in the ER last night due to horrible pain in my right side (right under my right breast) i am a little over 2 weeks post op... Turns out I am "filles to the brim" with gallstones! Now i need surgery to have my gallbladder removed. At this point I'd rather just hide under my bed, i just cant do another surgery. Has this happened to anyone here?

But no one is telling me about were they able to have a regular sleeve performed, after having there gallbladder removed, or did the have to have any open incision. I say that because I know there maybe scary tissue.

It's not usually a problem since the gallbladder and stomach aren't that close together, so even if you have adhesions, it shouldn't interfere. I asked my doctors and they said they've done many lap vsg surgeries on patients who have had prior gallbladder removal.

I had my gallbladder removed in June '12 and VSG in December '12, same surgeon. No issues. Since I had the gb first the scars are in a little bit different places (laparoscopic). However I had gallbladder attacks starting in jan '12 and on that required it out immediately. I had already decided on VSG at the time....good luck. You should be fine! :-)

Everyone is different mine for me was in my chest area I thought I was having a heart attack before that pain started I would vomit or loose bowels if I ate anything greasy that was the beginning I was pregnant so I did think anything of it until the pain between my chest some ppl have pain on their side not in my case I had my remove 9 yrs ago I remember that pain cause the hospital called the popos on my husband cause he demanded a doctor see me rt away that's how painful it was I had a lot of stones

I had my gallbladder out two weeks ago...after suffering for 9 months with constant pain. My experience was years of pain on the right side of my back that felt like a pulled muscle, as a matter of fact, that's what I thought it was...a pulled muscle. In Jan 2012, I started experiencing internal pain just under my right ribcage in the back. My PCP said that it was caused by the weight loss and was muscle/skeletal adjustment pain. Last summer I had a horrible attack and thought I was dying, but vomiting and diarrhea followed the pain, so I assumed food poisoning until someone here on VST posted the symptoms of their GB attack. I immediately made an appointment with my surgeon to talk about my gallbladder. Since then, the pain steadily got worse, up to the point that I was taking percoset and loritab every single day. Once the gallbladder finally came out (two attempts), the surgeon told me that it looked like an overripe pear, was enlarged, and he is glad he got to it before it burst, because it was very close to bursting. Since removal, I've had no pain, been eating normally, and I feel like a million bucks. I didn't think it hurt "that bad", but I'm finding out now that I was actually in severe pain for a long time and had just mentally adjusted to the pain. If your doctor recommends taking out your gallbladder, let him! It's such a relief to be pain free!!!

^ This! Suffered for YEARS.. With attacks growing more severe and frequent. (at first only one or two mild attacks every few years.)Finally I had an attack that never went away. I literally thought I might die and made my unlicensed 15 year old sister drive me to the hospital. (yeah, in my feverish state I wasn't thinking clearly!) Then after several hours of waiting in the emergency room, I started just wishing I WOULD hurry up and die because the pain was so severe. My gallbladder had turned gangrene and ruptured and that's why the pain had turned from bad to worse. Sepsis is NOT FUN. The surgery was much longer than it should have been because the doctor had to search inside for pieces of gallbladder and pockets of infection. He had to scrape pieces of gangrene grossness off of my liver. I spent several days in the hospital for what should have been a quick and easy in and out procedure. If you think you are having gallbladder pains, get it checked by your doctor. Don't be stupid like me.

Thank uou all for sharing your experiences with gallbladder attacks. I have been nausea and throwing up for several wks. Last night I had severe pain in chest, right side lower back. I have no stones but dr says gallbladder appears to not be function. They also did a nuclear medicine test to get closer look at. Gallbladder. So hopefully tomorrow I can find out whether the gallbladder will be coming out. I am three mts post op. I asked dr to take it out then but he said its onlyyy thirty percent chance. Ewwwwww.
