Hi everyone! I wanted to make an announcement letting you all know that Sleevie Wonderland has made me the new group owner and myself and Larae will now be moderators. A little bit about myself- my name is Robin, I'm 23 from The Bronx. I'll be sleeved in October- counting down the days! I'm really excited to get this group going again and have some fun things planned! One of the big things for me is finally planning an official meetup for us New Yorkers. There has been interest in it but nothing official planned and that's something I think we should really get going. So on that note any idea's or suggestions for a meetup? I would love if we could make this a regular thing every few months. Let's get this thing going!

Since the summer is coming to a close, the weather should be nice for another month or two and something outside might be nice. Maybe a meet and greet in a park, bring a drink?

I can do anywhere kid friendly. Park sounds great.

The park is a great idea and my first choice too. How about a pot luck picnic- sleeve friendly of course. Everyone can bring one dish that would be WLS friendly- depending on how many people, everyone may not have to bring food since too much would be a waste with lots of sleeve sized tummy's lol.

Who is seriously interested in this? If we have enough people lets try something for mid September is that works for everyone!

My surgery date is sept 17. If it's before then or if I'm feeling well enough I'm def interested.

I'm going to look into location- the most obvious would be Central Park but finding a spot that is easily accessible to everyone is key since Central park is HUGE. I've seen people plan meetup type events there before in other groups I've been in and people had a hard time finding each other because it was so large. Don't want that to happen either. So lets work on a date and then get a location

HEAD COUNT who is serious about this? Once we have a date I'll make a seperate thread for it!

Maybe Sheep Meadow? It's on the southwest end of the park. Not too far from Columbus Circle which is a good express train stop from the boroughs. Kind of a good compromise from all boroughs and even NJ or LI!

Should maybe start a new thread with this to get more people's attention.

What part of Central Park. That's a bit out there for me, especially since I would be traveling with my son. Depending on where the location is I may come, just let me know where and I would give you a sure answer.

I'm thinking that Jammy has a good idea and Sheep Meadow would be the best spot there. Easy to get to, not too much of a hike.

Sheep meadow is an area of Central Park. It's on the southwest corner right near Columbus Circle. It's a little easier to get to (esp by train) than further up in the park.
