Pre-Op Diet Massive Fail!

I all. My surgery is day after tomorrow (thurs) and I have been totally hopeless with the pre-op diet! Feel like my surgeon opened a gateway by telling me that since I'm not that heavy then I should stick to it roughly but not worry too much. My BMI is about 37.

Has anyone else been in a similar position? Will I be ok for surgery! Feel really cross with myself that I've been so rubbish!

:(

I have extended the time that my Dr. gave me for pre op. I am working on self discipline at this point. I have to be able to stop letting food rule me so I needed to work at it before surgery so I won't have issues after. Your BMI must be low enough that your Dr is not concerned about your liver. I want my surgery to go as smoothly as possible , so I keep my diet liquids only.

Hey Joyce, how is everything going?? The liquid diet has been a challenge so far but I'm off to a great start. I've had the headaches and dizziness from the lack of food and also on top of that my blood sugar has gone up because they took me off my meds. So double trouble. I have a great attitude about it and figure if I can't do this before I won't have the great success I want after. I know our surgeries are getting close so I wanted to check in with you to see how you were doing. Crossing my fingers for a smooth surgery for both of us and great success on our journey after!!

Take Care

Kelly

I cheated on my pre-op diet but only once. A couple of days before surgery I felt like I really needed some food so I ate some chicken strips. It seems that low calories are what shrink your liver so 400 calories wasn't going to blow it. Sure enough, my surgery went smoothly and my liver wasn't in the way. That said, you are almost "home" so to speak so stay the course but don't be too hard on yourself. :)
