  1. I was sleeved Aug 1st and I completely understand your frustrations. The first 2 weeks for me were the hardest. I take a chewable childrens vitamin 4 times a day, just the costco brand, and also the calcium i buy from costco also. It's the kirkland brand and they are sugar free and taste great. They are a chocolate chewable one, makes you feel like your having candy. I'm suppose to take 3500 mg a day, which are 7 chewables. I havent had any problems with those upsetting my stomach. I actually look forward to taking them because they taste so good. The growling of your tummy sounds normal. I had the same feelings. I've had to be on a clear liquid diet and protein shakes for 4 weeks. Just started pureed foods. I can't tell you how good pureed food tastes. Never thought I'd ever say that. I would take my protein shakes (which I also get at costo, Premier shakes) 30g of protein and only 1g of sugar, I would blend the shake in my magic bullet blender with some ice and it makes it a little thicker, like a smoothie, seemed more satisfying to me and filled me up. In the morning I'd add some decaf coffee to the chocolate ones and it tasted like a blended coffee. Things do get better believe me. I'm so proud of myself for enduring this process. I never thought I could do this for as long as I have. But there is a reason for it and it really does help when you finally try some food, blended or not, its amazing how full you get so quickly. If you have any more questions I'd be happy to help if I can. I'm only 4 weeks out myself and don't have alot of experience but I'm learning as is everyone, along the way. Take care and good luck on your new journey, it's definately going to be worth it!!
  2. Yes they should be ok at first. I'm trying to promise myself to stay away from carbs as much as possible, but starting out on purees i'm not being too fussy about it. All the best to you!
  3. I'm 4 weeks post op and just started pureed foods. I made some homemade navy bean soup with ham yesterday and pureed it in my magic bullet. It tasted great! Altho I couldn't eat too much of it, it was very satisfying. Any soup you like is great blended up. Refried beans with cheese, tuna fish with a little light mayo and relish, egg salad is good also. There is a fluff recipe i have and made last night that is great also. Take one packet of SF jello and disolve it in 1/2 the water it states on the package. Then wisk in about 3/4 cp of greek yogart and 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder. Let sit in the fridge til jello is not quite set then take a hand mixer to it and whip it for about 5 minutes. Let finish setting in fridge. It was a great change of pace from plain jello or popcicles. There is a great soup in the deli at Safeway. Baked potatoe soup. Blend that up and it tastes yummy. Probably not the best idea when you can eat more but for the quantity you can have it tastes great and is extremely satisfying. Good luck to you!!
  4. Good choice with Premier, to me they are the best tasting ones out there. I blend mine in a magic bullet blender with some ice and sometimes a little sugar free jam to change it up a little. Makes it taste like a smoothie. I'm almost 3 weeks out now and have had good luck getting my protein in that way. Good luck to you!!
  5. I'm 2 weeks post op also, but my Dr. has me on a strick diet still of 3 protein shakes a day and just clear liquids. Can't even have pureed foods for 2 more weeks. A tip for getting your liquids in which has worked for me. I have a container which is 32 oz. I mix crystal light lemon flavored iced tea in it. Then I slice lemons and limes in it, and buy a can of no sugar added fruit cocktail and put half of that with the juice in it. Very refreshing in the heat and I seem to be able to get that all down instead of the water. I wish you luck on your journey!!
  6. My surgery was Aug 1, 2012. I sure hope to have the success you have just shared with all of us this time next year. It's alot of hard work, but i know I'll get out of it what I put in. Congratulations.
  7. I'm 8 days post op today. Was just able to start drinking my protein shakes again. The last few days have been tough without the protein. Got really light headed and dizzy. I'll be on clear liquids with protein shakes for the next 3 weeks then i can start the pureed foods. Looking forward to that at this point lol Hope all is well. Every day gets a little easier. Good luck to you!
  8. how lucky are you!! I'm 8 days post op and just got to start drinking protein shakes today. I don't start soft foods until week 5, I have a ways to go and can't wait!!
  9. ok people, arent we adults here. Please stop arguing and acting so petty with the comments. Each person is an individual and will do or not do what they are told. Ultimately they are the ones paying the consequences for their actions. I'm 4 days post op and have loved this sight until reading this thread. I think I'll stick with the love and support of my own family and friends. Let's just all relax and do the best we can!!
  10. My surgery is Aug 1st so I'm feeling those feelings too. Excited and nervous at the same time. Good luck and let us know how things go!!
  11. My surgeon for my sleeve is Dr. Srikanth in Federal Way at St. Frances hospital. He also does the tummy tuck and from what I hear very good. I have my surgery Aug 1st and I know if I need the tummy tuck I would go back to him. Good Luck!
  12. Hello Lacey, WA, I'm from Spanaway. Not too many in our area on here. When is your surgery? I'm going in on Aug. 1st at St. Frances in Federal Way. Hope your doing well with this whole process!!
  13. I'm also getting this from my mom, who also fights her weight but isn't as big as I am. Some of it I think is jealosy, which she does admit to, but I do believe alot of it is being worried about it. When it's all over and we are healthy and dropping the weight, they will understand more. It does hurt my feelings, especially being it's my mom and that should be the one person who supports you the most, but again, in my case anyway, it's being worried of the unknown. I suspect she will change her mind and come around after it's all said and done. Good luck to you!!!
  14. They didn't want me to crash i guess, having my blood sugar go too low. I've talked to the surgeons office and my primary and they both say the same thing, just keep testing my blood and report in to them. I do have to take my BP med and my thyroid meds, just the diabetes i'm off of. Maybe its telling me to get out and move my ass and walk a little more huh lol Hope your doing well!!
  15. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Yes my surgeon took me off all diabetes meds until surgery. I just don't like how it makes me feel. Took a walk at lunch and it went down quite a bit, so feeling much better this afternoon. Hopefully when this is all said and done I can get off it for good. Good luck!!
  16. Hey Joyce, how is everything going?? The liquid diet has been a challenge so far but I'm off to a great start. I've had the headaches and dizziness from the lack of food and also on top of that my blood sugar has gone up because they took me off my meds. So double trouble. I have a great attitude about it and figure if I can't do this before I won't have the great success I want after. I know our surgeries are getting close so I wanted to check in with you to see how you were doing. Crossing my fingers for a smooth surgery for both of us and great success on our journey after!! Take Care Kelly
  17. I'm on my 3rd day of 10 on clear liquid pre op diet. I'm off all my diabetes meds but I'm having high blood sugar readings throughout the day. Anyone else had these problems at all??
  18. I'm on my first day of the clear liquid diet for 10 days. I had a cup of hot tea with lemon and splenda and I blended up my chocolate Protein Drink with some ice a little lemon juice and vanilla. It was very filling and surprisingly tasted pretty darn good. I was told to buy the Premier Protein shakes at costco or sams club. They have 39 gm of protein. It's definately not a chocolate milkshake but very doable. I seem to be in the right mind set for this so I havent had too many hurdles. Good luck to you and do just what your doctor tells you to do and you'll get the best results!!
  19. How wonderful. You look terrific. Thank you for posting these pictures. It helps us pre surgery folks with some encouragement that we're making the right decisions for ourselves and our families. I'm just starting my clear liquid diet today and everything seems to be going very well so far. August 1st is my surgery date and i cant wait for it to get here so I can start my journey. Good luck to you and keep up the great work!!!
  20. I just bought my protein drinks at costco. It's called Premier Protein shakes. They have chocolate and vanilla. They only have 2 gr of sugar and they taste great! Well great compared to all the rest. I also bought the Magic Bullet blender there too and have mixed the chocolate protein shake with some frozen berries. I start my clear liquid diet sunday so I cant add the berries then, but you can mix is with ice, and a little coffe and make a blended coffee. I'm so ready for this challenge and can't wait to start getting results. My surgery is Aug. 1st. Good luck!!
  21. I think it's all a mind set. Am I nervous? Of course. I'm also very excited and after 48 years, I've made up my mind. It's all upstairs in my head. I'm ready for this now. My kids are raised and I have nothing, or no excuses left to stop me. Onward and upward. August 1st can't get here soon enough!!!
  22. You can purchase it online at Unjury.com. I've heard alot of great things about the chicken broth. I just ordered mine today. I start my clear liquid diet on the 22nd and have surgery Aug 1st. I'v heard the Premier Protein shakes at costco are great too!!
  23. A sleever from WA, rarely see them here lol My surgery is on Aug 1st and just got back from another round of tests at the hospital. I'm all done now except for my EGD and my final consult. Clear liquid diet starts the 22nd, makes me nervous but I'm ready so bring it on lol
  24. Good luck to you and hopefully you'll have a very speedy recovery!
