Steroid Injection

Recommended Posts

I had an injection yesterday I gained 3 lbs overnight. I know it's probably Water retention but ugh! I just wanted to vent. Anyone else have this issue?

I have had that issue as well. It is one of those deals that damned if you do and damned if you don't. I have just had to talk myself into which is the more temporary condition -- weight gain or pain.

It is generally accepted that 3,500 calories = 1 pound. So, unless that shot was pure butter equal to 10,500 calories, you did not gain a pound of fat. Isn't that what this is about, anyway? When you see the scale go up and down, it is not a measure of fat gained or lossed. There are many things that go into the complex fluctuation of weight.

My money is on fluids, not fat. Don't be frustrated. I'm sorry to say, you are absolutely normal.

Steroids can cause hunger, but if you are getting steroid injections, there's a good chance you have an issue with inflammation, which could cause Water retention or swelling. Let the steroids do it job and wait a day or two to weigh yourself.

I have been on and off steroids most of my adult life. I receive injections and I have taken steroids orally. Normally when on them, I know it causes hunger and I have done very well not to eat, and I have lost weight with them.

There was a full moon recently and that does cause me to hold onto Water. I weighed 208.2 for a few days, and yesterday I hopped on the scale and was 211. Today I'm back down to 207.4. Not sure why the increase, I knew I didn't gain that much weight on my 450 calories and I know I had expended 450 calories alone in exercise the day before.

Sometimes these things happen. Let the injection help and make sure you get enough water in.

I also use Rhinecort & Ventolin which is steroidal based.

I get cimzia injections every two weeks for rheumatoid arthritis and I have been on prednisone for years. so my weight fluctuates alot by a few pounds specially after the injections so I try not to weigh myself for a few days after the injections so I don't get so disappointed even though I now it's just Water weight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
