My doctor prescribed clear liquids for weeks one and two (post-op). Is this normal? He said people sometimes get lactose intollerant for life if they have to much milk at first. Other band to sleevers that I know of did not have this restriction.

Wait.. so the intolerance could be avoided by not having milk? I always thought it happens (or not) based on the operation and the person.. not that it could be controlled.

I hadn't heard anything about the lactose intolerance until we asked the nurse why we were supposed to do clear liquids. Sounds like it can be avoided.
