6 Month Psychotherapy?

Recommended Posts

I'm really frustrated. I received a letter today from my insurance company saying that I will have to do 6 months of psychotherapy before they will further consider my request for VGS. They only required one session with the nutritionalist and a 6 month supervised diet isn't required. My BMI is 68! My doctor wrote, in his letter to the insurance company, that he didn't find it necessary to have any kind of psychotherapy. I'm really annoyed at the thought of having to wait 6 more months or longer. The waiting time to see a therapist around here us sometimes 2 or 3 months. My knees are not going to tolerate this weight much longer. I have no cartilage left and every step is agony. I've lost 50 pounds on my own since January but I need to lose 200 pounds before they can do any kind of knee replacement. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard. I've seen here that most people only have to do an evaluation. Has anyone else been required to do 6 months of psychotherapy? Maybe there is a way out of it?

Wow! That's insane! I hope there's a way out of this because I feel your pain! I was 410 with a bmi of 62 I'm going through the 6 month diet I have 2 more months. So far I'm down to 375. One would think we us having such a high bmi that they would automatically approve without all the long 6 month requirements!!! I pray that soon all insurance exclude this requirement! At least for people with a bmi of over 50! Praying with you!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
