After sleeve surgery, how long do you have to take heartburn and acid reflux medicine? A month? A year? Forever (god I hope not)!

I am 6 months post op tommorow, I do still take the reflux medication.

My surgeon tells me it is not common for people to still need the medication this far out.

I have been going on and off the medication for a few months, and each time I go off the symptoms are lessened but to date I am still aware of the reflux, or burning in my throat at this stage.

I am sure others have many other experiences.

My surgeon says I have to take it for 3 months even if there are no signs of reflux.
