Dr. Alvarez reviews

I'm looking for reviews and experiences of Dr. Alvarez patients. What was your experience like with him? Are you happy with the results of your surgery? How was your recovery and follow up care? What did you think of the hospital? Thanks so much for your help.

You will find a lot of info on Alvarez on youtube :) On this site you may only find reviews of Dr. Kelly, Dr. Aceves and Dr. Almanza. Before I had my surgery done that was about all I could find on here. Youtube is helpful for Alvarez. :)

I went to Dr. Kelly in August. If you want any info you can message me and I will be of some help if you'd like.

Good luck.. and all I can say is, research, research, RESEARCH.

I've heard good things about Alvarez but you can't rely on one post in one forum to get all the info on a surgeon. Check out google, obesityhelp, and youtube. Use the search because most people don't post after say 6-8 months post-op.

I just got sleeved on 9-13-11 by Dr. Alvarez. My experience was phenomenal. I couldn't have asked for better care or service. From the nurses to Dr. A and Dr. Rosales, everyone was so professional and caring. I would highly recommend him. :). Please email me or msg me with any questions....I would be happy to answer any questions you have!

Good luck!

Kristin - I was also considering Dr. Alvarez and I'm torn between him or Dr. Aceves. I know that Dr. Alvarez has done double the amount of VSG surgeries but Dr. Aceves has done more overall WLS surgeries. How has your recovery been? I'm nervous about going alone and not having anyone there to help. Would love to her about your experience more. Anything unexpected?

thanks,

Ellie

Ellie--- I'm 5 days post-op today and I feel like I had a very uneventful recovery!!! No complications, no nausea, no pain...just had gas pains but I took gas x and Zantac for that. I took my pain pills 3 times within the first two days home and it wasn't for pain but to help me relax and get some rest. The surgery is done in a hospital and you recover for 2 days in the hospital with either Dr. Alvarez or his ass't Dr. Rosales checking on you at least 4 times a day. The nurses come in about every hour to check on you as well. Everything was very clean (I'm a germ freak)! The hospital is old but clean. Another lady that had the procedure done the day before was alone from Florida. You instantly make friends with everyone and they make you feel like they are your family. Rosy, who is Dr. Alvarez's cousin, picks you up from the airport and takes you across. She is amazing and super sweet! She puts you at ease and will answer any questions you may have. I hope this has helped and made you feel better... Please let me know if there is anything else I can answer. :)

thanks Kristin. When do you plan to return to work? Some have said they needed weeks others days. I know each is different but I don't want to be away from work too long but also don't want to rush it either. thanks again!

PS. Hope you have a fast smooth recovery. so proud of everyone who has done it. I'm so nervous, hope I make it.

Thanks so much for the reviews. Between here, YouTube and obesity help I have decided on Dr.Alvarez. I now have an Oct 15th surgery date and am going to buy his book. I am so excited!

Kristin, I am glad things are going well so far with your recovery. Please stay well and thanks for answering my questions. I am working for myself and have plenty of time to recover but will also be traveling to Mexico alone. However I did this for my lap band surgery in Tijuana almost three yrs ago so I'm nervous but not scared. Looking forward to the procedure that will work for me! :-)

cremedream--You are so very welcome! Please email me or msg me if you need any other questions answered!! I'm so excited for you!!! :) Thank you for the well wishes and please keep in touch!!!
