Hello,

I'm currently not a sleever but is very excited and anxious about becoming one. I'm a single parent of two.My daughter is 7years old and my son in two years old. My question is,Will I need alot of help at home after the vsg surgery? because I live alone with my two children. My mom lives near by but she lives a busy life herself with going back and fourth everyday to see my grandmother in the hospital and making sure she is getting proper care.

You will not need a lot of help because the surgery is pretty simple compared to some others. I had complications and had to stay in the hospital longer but once I came home I was fine. The biggest thing is have someone on standby just in case and dont try to do too much. I was trying to do laundry and go grocery shopping instead of just sitting down. If you follow the instructions from your doctor you will not have issues.

The only help you will need is with lifting. I would say that because you have a two year old you absolutely cannot lift anything over 10 pounds. As far as pain and complications, I had none. The more you move the better you feel. The gas moves rather quickly if you move.I was discharged on a Thursday afternoon and went walking on Friday morning. Good luck to you and keep me posted.
