First visit with surgeon - what should I expect?

Tomorrow I meet with the surgeon for the first time. I already know that I will be self-pay as my insurance specifically excludes WLS. I went to the "informational meeting" back in April, but this will be my first time meeting with the surgeon face to face as it were. I have no idea what will happen. What should I expect?

I would shave your legs :-) On my first appointment I was not expecting much, but they wanted to do an EKG which required putting some leads on my legs which I had not shaven that day.

Generally, he will discuss the surgery options...see what your thoughts are...discuss your medical history, weight, any gastric issues you may have. The office should have told you if they were going to do blood work or any other tests. Really shouldn't be a big deal...just an opportunity for you and the surgeon to meet and learn more about each other...bring questions!

Thanks. I have been working on a list of questions for him. I just got the confirmation call from the office, and so asked the person calling what to expect. She told me that I would also be meeting with the dietician tomorrow! Wow. Wasn't really expecting that.

I'm excited for this. I know it's something that I *have* to do for myself as I am really tired of being sick and tired all the time. Although I am a bit anxious about the first meeting for some reason.
