Contraindications question

I just want to make sure my info is correct for contraindications

If I have acid reflux or GERD I am not a candidate for the band but will this prevent me from getting the sleeve?

If have to take NSAIDS and/or steroids once in a while and low vitaminD and family history of osteoporosis does that mean I am not a candidate for RNY?

Just getting my info together for my final visit with the surgeon before it goes to the insurance company.

Thanks for your help

- Having reflux / GERD will not prevent you from getting the sleeve. I had it pretty significantly before surgery and have had absolutely not one second of it since. Lots of us have undiagnosed hiatal hernias that are found and fixed with the surgery too.

- You cannot take NSAIDS with RNY. Also, while the caloric malabsorption with RNY only lasts a couple of years if you're lucky, the nutritional malabsorption is permanent, so that's something to consider if you're concerned about getting in your Vitamin D. :)

I have GERD and my surgeon has scheduled me for surgery on May 6th. So, no, it's not a limiter.

I am lucky in that I had no damage from the GERD -- your mileage may vary; if in doubt, your doctor should schedule an EGD.
