Hunger question

I'm on day five of my pre op diet and I'm going crazy! I'm so light headed and tired. I almost caved today, but I got through it by sucking some sauce out of a Taco Bell fire sauce packet. Ugh. I don't know if I can do 9 more days of this liquid diet.

Looks like some of you had an Atkins type diet pre op. Do you think I could switch to that and it would be okay? Does this hunger with all liquids get better after the surgery??

Thanks

You'll have to ask your surgeon that prescribed the pre-op diet if you can switch. Each surgeon is different. My surgeon just required low carb/high Protein pre-op. But, I know a lot of other surgeons that require a liquid diet. You can get through it.

I didn't have any hunger post-op, but some patients experience hunger because the stomach nerves are severed/cut, and there is no full signal. Also, liquids go right through our stomachs so we won't feel much satiety with just liquids alone.

Can you increase your protein consumption? Are you able to have Protein drinks? This typically helps with the hunger issues.
