If you are struggling

with the liquid diet, I thought I would lose my mind the first couple of days. However, day 6 is almost over and I'm definitely finding it easier. Just keep items that you CAN have on hand keep your mind busy. I've been busy all day and today has been really good. Just thought I would help give someone hope out there because I swore that I wouldn't be able to do this and I'm doing it!:thumbup1:

I am a little under a month away from surgery.I screwed up and weighed myself the other day to discover I have GAINED 6 pounds and I am now sitting at a serious 270. I have to be eating everything under the sun! My Dr is requesting a 3 day liquid diet before surgery but I really think, I have to do something. I may try a couple weeks out to go off carbonation again. Maybe ill try a 21 day liquid diet....I am just worried like 2 day before surgery I am gonna be like "I want a steak so bad I could punch a crying baby." I kind of want a "last supper" but I am afraid if I make it too early it won't last me until surgery.

I had the exact thoughts you are having before starting the pre op diet, and all I can say is be very careful. I went to my first doctors appointment on Jan 20th and weighed 278. When I stared my 2 week pre op diet on March 16th I was 295. I gained 17 f'in pounds! It was like I was rebelling on years of dieting, and stuffing my face with garbage all day long because I wanted to "get it in" before surgery. Well I have 17 more pounds to lose now, and honestly it's really discouraging. I also debated on weather to start the liquid diet early because I knew I was out of control, but I should have just ate healthy until the night before the liquid diet and then had a "last supper"... and that's what I advise you to do. You really don't want to gain anymore weight because it's a bad note to start things off on.

Carrie,

Thanks for the encouragement! That has me wondering! I start my preop prep tomorrow. I only have to do it 3-5 days... I am doing it 5 days! Surgery is next

Tuesday in TJ Mexico. The nerves are up, obviously, it's almost 5:30am and I am

STILL up! :-0 I think it's wonderful that you are doing so great. :-) Jen in Missouri.

You'd be better off to do high Protein, low fat, very low carb diet with solid foods.

It's probably too late to have any true effect on your liver, some studies show it takes up to six months to shrink your liver. But getting rid of the glycogen will firm it up so it's easier to handle in surgery.

This is major surgery.....get serious about your pre-op diet!
