I'm not sure what kind of preop advice you are looking for....Take various body measurements before you get banded. So post band when you go through a period where the scale doesn't seem to move much and you get frustrated, you can look at your measurements and see that you are still losing inches. I take measurements at the beginning of each month. I see it in how my clothes fit as well, be we are such a number society, seeing how many inches down I am, helps when the scale seems stuck!
