Almost 2 years and never been in green zone!

It has almost been 2 years in July and I have got fill after fill and a few unfills! I lost 60lbs and after this last unfill due to being so tight I couldn't even swallow my spit I have gained back 20 of those 60 pounds back :( I am going for a fill today after not having hardly any fill since February only because the last fill I had that was so tight has freaked me out about getting to tight again and not to mention my husband is so against me getting fills now after all that! I'm just scared I will never be in the green zone. I only need to lose 30 pounds to be at goal. I'm praying this fill today will be it! I guess what I'm getting at is if I get only .2 .3 fill will it make a difference????

May I offer a few comments, without appearing like a jerk? I see a lot of post about the green zone... some think they are there because the band greatly restricts their eating ability. In essence,

  • Cannot possibly understand what is happening to you or your body,...but in my case.... With my last fill, which was only 1 cc, that actually did the trick for me....BUT it was rough to say the least

I'm guessing here' date=' because my insurance covers it, but If I can decipher the bill correctly...about 300 more than a blind fill.

I realize some would say that's high, but I look at it this way....I went over TWO YEARS getting filled blindly...probably with 7 or 8 adjustments, only to verify they werent going to EVER get me to proper restriction. First time using fluoro, problem found and corrected.

I wish I had the video of my first fill using fluoro...I'd post it here so all could SEE what it can show..not just restriction level.[/quote']

I had my first fill today. It was using fluoro, it was really cool. Especially when you drink and watch the liquids go through the band.

.1 removed made a big differnce to me, so adding a tiny bit should make a difference, too!

Such awesome advice everyone! Thank you!!! I got my fill today I went from 5.8 to 6.5 and i feel fine now tightness but I'm sure I will be able to tell in Few days!!! I just need a little restriction back and I can do the rest! ;) I will let everyone know how it goes!!! Oh and my doc advised me that he thinks it would be a good idea to do my next fill under Fluor! So if this fill don't work out then I will be making my appointment for that!!!

Good news - I hope this is what you needed!

For me the green zone became much wider than what I had originally envisioned. At first I thought the green zone was this magical place where I would eat a small amount and not be hungry for four hours...every single day. Then I learned about things like dehydration, stress, allergies, exercise, tight mornings and loose evenings, etc. What I figured out is that I am better off being a little on the loose side than on the tight side at all. While it may be true that I am hungry more often than I would like to be I still have some flexibility in my diet plus I don't get too tight just because I exercise or get stressed. My rule of thumb is getting just tight enough where I cannot eat a cheeseburger with the bun or a slice of deep dish pizza then I stop and do not get any more fluid. Anything more than that and I end up having trouble because of being too tight one day.

For me.....from my experience. If you can, request a fill using fluoroscopy. It took me forever ( more than two years ) to reach the "green zone" too....for a couple of different reasons. And I've never had an unfill due to being too tight.

I'd never have gotten to this point without the fluoro. It CAN be the difference....once again, my experience. :)

Is this a new technique? Is it required for every fill?

Is this a new technique? Is it required for every fill?

Its not really "new", although from what I've read and seen (for the past four years), MOST doctors offices/fill offices don't have the machine at the location. Mine does have it in the office now.

Is it required for every fill/adjustment? Simple answer = no

From my experience, I would NEVER recommend a person considering getting the band, to consider a surgeon who "won't" use it. Not necessarily at every adjustment, but at least often...say at least every other adjustment. I realize some self pay patients will disagree, due to the extra costs associated with it. That's certainly understandable. BUT, watch and see how many blind fills/unfills/adjustments they have to pay for....without it, it's just a guess.

And its NOT just to determine correct adjustment.....trust me. It can see much more.......
