When did you start using hand weights?

I was banded 4/30 and have been walking every day for about 3 wks now. Would like to start using hand weights to start working on my upper arms. When did you start using hand weights?

  • I was about 3 weeks out when I started using 5 lbs weights. Don't try to move up to far until everything is healed. You don't realize how everything is so interconnected until you pull something.

  • I would check with your doctor to be safe. I was told at after 2 weeks, I had no restrictions at all. I was about 2 1/2 weeks out when I started using hand weights.

  • I was OK 3 weeks out. You should surely be fine by now.

Def. check with your Dr. I was released to lift weights 3 weeks post-op. Good luck
