shake n bake?

Hi all,

I've never had shake n bake...& I'm eating dinner w the girl I babysit, who has requested Shake n Bake chicken for dinner.

I'm using raw boneless skinless chicken and will be baking it..the box seems that it's fine..low cal, no trans fat, etc...but as it's in a box it worries me.

Thoughts?

I don't see what is wrong with enjoying something like Shake 'n Bake chicken in moderation. I'd go for 1 leg, or a breast if that's an option. Have it with a few veggies.

  • I've used it before and it's fine. I stopped using it because you can accomplish the same effect and add your own spices if you just buy bread crumbs and spice it the way you want it.

  • If it was me, I would make the shake and bake for your friend and cook chicken thighs for yourself a different way. Dont ever feel you have to compromise for other people. There is usually a solutions

You'll have to read the ingredients of the Shake and Bake. Calories, fat, etc. See if it fits in your daily calorie budget.

Its mostly bread crumbs with spices...oh and preservatives of course!

You could try to spice up some wheat bread crumbs.

But I agree with hely88, make the shake and bake for your friend, except I would make a chicken breast for myself. Thighs are higher on fat. But it's up to you.

I also would do breasts but I hear most people saying they can't eat them I have never had a problem and the last times made thighs I was grossed out by all the fat I tried to get off.

Nothing is wrong with having it but I personally would not want to use my calories on it and a lot of people have problems with breading. You should never feel deprived.
