What Happens For Six Months?

I'm 18 and thinking about getting the lapband. my moms friend said she had to wait six months before to get the surgery done. She said something about proving to the insurance company that she was committed. What exactly do you do in those six months?

some require 6 months.. some 3 months and some just 1 nutritional visit which is what I had to do. But during the 6month case, you have to see your dr every month .. you cannot miss a month or else you have to start from scratch.. to show you are trying to make healthier choices in food etc. and Good luck.. it is a great thing. I just had mine done last week.. so far so good! 23lbs lost! woo woo!
