Well it's been a long journey just trying how to get in the surgery room. First thought it would be September 28th but ends up tentatively November 8th!

lesley714,

I think most everything they were asking me for was normal procedure. But it seemed like they just kept asking for more. It started with seeing if I was a good canidate, for the surgery. For me it was with type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, BMI ratio, and high blood pressure.

They asked for 6 months of supervised weight management from an a doctor , with documentation of diet and exercise.

Recommendation from a dietitian along with training how to eat healthy, this took two visits.

A full blow psych evaluation and recommendation for the surgery.

I thought this would be all they wanted but for almost a month and and a few days they kept denying me 3 times. They asked for a medical clearance again from my doctor and a note stating that this surgery was necessary. I kept faxing papers and they would say they never got them, then they said it was denied and I would have to summit all the paperwork again.

Finally my surgeon ask for a Pier to Pier and then they finally approved it. The doctors office and my surgeon done a lot but I called the insurance company everyday just so they wouldn't drop the ball and believe it or not it does help when you call instead of the doctors office.

So I wish you well and hope Cigna won't jerk you around like they did me with the missing paperwork.

Thank you.. :)

I finally got my referral from Cigna prospect to see a bariatric but before anything Cigna required me to have a Psy evaluation and 6 weeks of nutritional classes.. I see the surgeon next week hopefully it won't be a stressful process after that :/
