Anyone from Alabama recently have lapband?

Im from Alabama as well Thinking about the LB. I know that my insurnace doesn't cover so I am going to have to do self pay. Going back and forth on going to Mississippi to get it done or Bham. =) Nice to meet you guys.

5months to go

I'm in Alabama also. My surgery is this Friday. I'm excited, but also really nervous. I've went through 6 months to get insurance approval, but I still can't believe I'm about to really do this!

Good luck! Who is doing your surgery?

I'm from Alabama. Dr. Britt did my surgery back in March along with my gallbladder surgery in August. He is fabulous!! My husband had his surgery a little over a year ago and has lost close to 100 lbs. I am seven months out and have lost close to 60lbs and many clothing sizes. I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over. We ran our first 5k this past weekend, which is something that I never would have contemplated doing before!

That is awesome! Dr. Britt did my surgery yesterday. Im actually feeling pretty good, just really sore around the port site.

I would love to run a 5k. I downloaded the app couch to 5 k. Good luck?

Where is Dr Britt? I live in the Birmingham area.

Dr. Britt is in Guntersville. He and his staff have been great!

Dr. Britt will also be doing my surgery. I have been on the 6 month diet which ends in December. I'm excited and can't wait to get a date set!

I am from boaz al was banded on July 10th have lost about 35 so far

I am in Guntersville al. I went with dr. Groves, that's dr Brett's partner. I was band 6/17 down 36lbs.

Dr. Britt is in Guntersville. He even did the surgery on his partner Dr. Groves. The staff is wonderful! In addition, since there are so many surgeries of this type in the Arab hospital, they are very well equipped to handle lapband patients. Everything from the size of wheelchairs to the correct food for post op, is specifically for the comfort of LB patients.

In regards to starting the 5k, I used the an app on my ipod similar to couch to 5k. Very easy to follow and it starts a little slower than the couch to 5k. It is called ease into 5k.
