Anyone go for a while postop without a fill?

Hi,

I don't post much but have been trying to read when I have time, so thanks, I have learned a lot from you!! :biggrin1:

I had my band on 2/14. I was told that when I stopped losing and was eating too much then I needed to go back for a fill. My surgeon said he had patients who go months without a fill and continue to lose. I think that is me. I have lost 17 pounds since surgery (plus 14 preop) and the past few weeks it has consistently been 1.5-2 pounds a week. I have lost inches, so I know my exercise is working! I do exercise daily and I usually make my meals anywhere from 1/2-1 cup, mostly eating lean proteins and veggies when I can. And it suits me fine so far!

Does this sound normal? Anyone else go for a while without a fill?

Thanks!

Kell

Good for you and well done! That doesn't sound like a thing to worry about. I have heard of one gal getting to goal with no fill. It happens. I got my first fill just shy of 3 months after surgery. What you describe above is very good restriction and consistent weight loss. No fill required. Excellent! Keep up the good work!

Joy has had two fills in the last three months and she says that she feels she could eat more NOW than she could right after surgery. I think with the last fill she is at 8cc...go figure!

I was banded on 2/22 and in BAD need of a fill. I am scheduled for one one 4/11. It can't come soon enough. I have had hardly any restriction since surgery and right now I can eat anything I want. So we are all different.

I have had my band for 8 months and haven not had a fill. I have lost 67 pounds and I don't plan on getting a fill until the weight loss stops completely. I also think of my port as insurance if I start to gain weight.
