Constant Nausea And Burning Sensation

I have the lap band. Last week I went in to have some fluid removed due to being to tight and nausous ater eating. We had just added fluid about 10 days before after a complete unfill due to a suspected slipped band (no xray taken) The nausea is now 24/7 and i also have a weird bunrning sensation under my left rib. I called the dr today and she said sounds like an upper GI bug and prescribed some anti nausea meds and told me if I still have the nausea in a week to call back. Does this sound normal? Any thoughts and opinions?

It not normal for the band, no. If it's an upper GI bug, maybe. However I would insist on barium swallow to check the band, just to be sure..

Yep, I'd insist on the barium swallow, too. The only time I get nauseated is if I overeat. I think the fact that you were having problems with nausea before and are still having the nausea, it's too coincidental to be tossed off as a stomach bug.

I called my family DR and talked to the nurse....her response was that the other doctors are probably right as there are alot of bugs going around. also, they don't "mess" with the lapbands and would just refer me back to lapand dr. unbelievable! I feel like they arent listening! ugh

Have to agree with the barium swallow, nasty as it may be. Guessing you might be slipped just doesn't cut it!!! Good luck!!!!

When I had constant nausea, it was a slip. I absolutely would NOT let a regular doc mess around with your band - they typically don't know enough about it to even diagnose a slip on x-ray.

Please find a band doc and get seen!

I had called my reg doctor for a second opinion due to my LB dr thinkin it was just a "GI bug" my reg dr wouldnt see me once I mentioned lapband, they said they would just refer me back to LB dr. so in meantime ive talked to LB nurse a few times. nausea is better but still have burning sensation and now some major bloating and feeling uncomfortable after eating. I also have a burning feeling in my esophagus, not heartburn but almost like how ur throat feels after a menthol cough drop (if that makes sense) I finally emailed LB DR today and told them if I am going to continue with the band I need to have an upper GI or endoscopy. if anything for my own peace of mind. I feel it only makes sense! I guess we will see wat the response is!
