Depends on your doctor and your insurance. That's a good question to ask when you are checking out surgeons!

My doctor sees erosion and slipping as part of the risks associated with the band. Since I paid for my band myself, I would have to pay for the surgery to fix anything that went wrong, unless it was due to a faulty band or surgeon error of course.

My doctor has assured me if the band slips or erodes within a three-year-period he will perform any surgery needed to make it right at no additional cost. That is probably why I opted for the surgeon I did. The fills are also part of the whole program.
