Gum

I remember in the first WLS seminar the nutritionist recommended now chewing gum. Has anyone heard this, and if so, what is the reasoning? I would imagine that swallowing your gum could be problematic, and I know chewing gum stimulates your gastric juices...but is there a risk to chewing gum post-band?

(FYI - I sure hope not - because if so I'm being a non-compliant bandster!!)

Yes my notes say NEVER CHEW GUM. Apparently it is really really bad if you accidentally swallow it

I chew gum all the time. No problems knock on wood. I do not recommend chewing gum while working out and then trying to drink from a water bottle. I was close to restriction and the gum got washed down by accident. I drank losts of water, and took papaya pills and things were fine.

I chew gum sometimes and had never been told not to. I do not swallow it and never have since I was little on accident. I am assuming it is a stuck issue.
