Little worried, throwing-up

Recommended Posts

Well hello all. I am pretty much a lurker here. So i will begin by introducing myself. I am Louis and just got banded on the 24th of February. All was going great till today my daugher started throwing up. my wife called the doctor and they told us it was highley contageous. Well now I am scared. Ofcourse I am still on the liquid diet and have no solids in me but I am a little worried about heaving and such. Has anyone here been through this only a week or 2 post op? Should I just stop all intake right now and pray I do not start getting sick? i know there would be a chance of becoming dehyraded either way so should I just self induce it myself rather than throwing it up? Any and all suggestions will be more than welcome. Also good news about my journey thus far, I have dropped 22 pounds since last Friday. This band thing is great!!:biggrin1:

Call your PCP and tell him what is up..get a prescription for phenergan suppossitory, it is for vomiting. It helps, I kept in on hand all the time in the event I ever got sick.

I have had extremely severe vomiting and never have slipped my band. Try to minimize the vomiting as much as possible but dont stress too much. I once vomited soooo bad that I dry heaved for 5 minutes after my stomach was empty. I was a sore afterwards but I didnt slip my band. As you vomit try to concentrate on stopping. I know that once I get going, reflex takes over and I start heaving over and over again. However, concentrating on stopping if you cant stop really seems to help stop the dry heaves. If you cant stop vomiting, then try to concentrate on vomiting gentler. I know it sounds weird but it seems to help.

I've been nauseated all the time since having my gallbladder removed. I wear a scopolomine patch behind my ear at all times. This is about like Compazine and controls the vomiting wonderfully. The suppositories are good too, but they don't last as long. The patch will last for 3 days before you have to change it.

Welcome to LBT Louis, and I hope you don't catch the bug!! :)

It sounds like you've gotten great advice... just wanted to add my welcome. :) You've got an adorable daughter there! :Banane40:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
