Hernia

Has anyone dealt with a hernia issue? I have a good size hernia that my doctor will have to repair. He is planning to do this the same time as he will place my lap band on. I heard something a bit disturbing, which I would like to know if there is any truth to it or not. I heard that a hernia can be a major issue with the lap band slippage. Does anyone know anything about this? What are things I need to consider with the hernia issue?

Thanks

I had mine repaired while I had the surgery. He told me without repairing it, they couldn't do the surgery. I haven't had any problems with it, and he didn't think I would have any after he repaired it.

Good luck!

Hi,

I just posted on the general discussion about this. My hernia was "too small" for my doctor to fix when he finally did go in. He had previously told me he would fix it (when he found it on the endoscopy.) There were a few other hernia threads on the board I found a couple of weeks ago. If you do a search you could find them. There are several people on the board who had their hernias fixed and are doing fantastic, no slips. I bet it's one of those things that can increase your risk, but it doesn't nessecarily mean you will have a slip.
