Pain Med Experiences

What pain medication did you use after surgery and for how many days did you need pain medication? Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

I used the liquid Vicodine they prescribed for me. I took a half dose religiously the first day. The next day I took a half dose three times. Once the day after that. A couple of days later I took one full dose because I way over-did it. None since :)

That's great! And it encourages me. :)

After my appendectomy, I didn't expect much pain. I'm not a medical professional, but it seemed like a fairly simple procedure to me. However, I needed regular doses of pain medication for four days after surgery. Each of those days, I was literally watching the clock, anticipating when I could have my next dose because it never seem to last the full 6 hours. After this experience, I've been a little concerned about what the pain will be like from the band surgery and how it will compare. I know I will get through it, but it's always nice to know what to expect.

Thanks for sharing!

I guess I was one of the lucky ones because I did not need the pain meds at all. I think what I got was liquid Vicodine but it is just sitting in the medicine cabinet.

My surgeon does not even prescribe pain meds. I have a very high tolerance for pain. When i had my hys i had 20 staples and i only took a couple of pain pills did not even finish the bottle same with my fx shoulder last yr. . Going to stock up on tylnol liquid.

I took 3tsp of liquid Vicodine every 4 hours (dose was 2-4tsp) the day of surgery and the next day... The following day I only took it once in the afternoon and twice at night... Today I think I'm done...
