Surgery Postponed

So I was scheduled for the 16th of April but now that will change. Basically my doctors office staff leaves alot to be desired and since I am self pay the added cost for hernia repair was a deal breaker. They wouldn't submit to insurance because they "usually don't get approved" what a ridiculous answer! I was denied surgery by insurance which I had to hound them to do that correctly-which I'm not sure if they submitted correctly or not but I was going to go forward regardless until the hernia issue.

Anyway now I'm going through True Results they charge 5500 with hernia repair which is cheaper than just the lap band with my previous doctor and they are closer to where I live. Anyway I hope medical records get transferred quickly so I can move forward- hope to get banded now the last week in April or maybe May.

Sorry for the rant but I just had to get this off my chest.

Not a rant at all. Its disappointing for us all to hit roadblocks. SOunds like having to change drs though i sa good thing for you cause sounds like the last one you had was not going to be a good dr to have on your team long run. So lets look at it as a good thing :) As for may hey its going to be a GOOD Month :)

Rant away! That's what we're here for. Sounds like your making the best move even if you do have to push the date back a bit.

May is going to be an exciting month.

Hopefully all turns out well. Sounds like you made a good decision though, especially if you are less than satisfied with the surgeon you had.

Anissa - it may be quicker than you expect with True Results. I am going through the one in Houston. I am also doing there Hernia plan which means they will submit part of the surgery through your insurance leaving $5500 out of pocket. They offer financing for that as well. I had an EGD to determine if I even had a hernia and I did. I was scheduled 2 weeks after that. It was postponed...but only because when they did the EGD they tested me for other stuff too and one of them came back positive for H.Pylori...so I had to go through 2 weeks of antibiotics to get rid of it. I am being banded this Tuesday. So exciting...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
