February 22, 200620 yr :scared: I'm just wondering are bananas ok to eat..I think the nutritional value must exceed the sugar content ..but, I'm not sure if I should eat them..I really want one tho!!:welldone2:
February 22, 200620 yr I don't know of any reason why you can't eat a banana, unless your on the liquid stage. If your worried about the sugar or calories, have 1/2 a banana instead of the entire thing. ENJOY !!!!
February 22, 200620 yr Author ty..I did eat a banana..and I could only eat about half of it..but, it was SWEET...lol..I can't wait til strawberries come into season again..what about apples and such..I know the juice is too high in sugar, but what about the actual fruit...I had my surgery Jan 5th..so I can eat pretty much anything, but I'm so paranoid about throwing up I still rely on mostly tuna, milk, chicken and my protien shakes..How do I get over this fear and start experimenting with new things? I think I am just trying to stick with what works...*shrugs shoulders* I better go take a vitamin..lol

I haven't had any problems yet. Like the Jersey Girl, I only eat 1/2 or 3/4. I share w/ my daughter or dog. It's a great way to help with portion control !!
February 22, 200620 yr Author lmao..its funny you mention to share, because I gave the rest to my guinea pigs and they loooved me for it!!
February 22, 200620 yr I haven't evaluated the nutritional content of bananas, but personally always considered them an acceptable fruit. They are higher in sugar content, don't contain as much Water or Fiber, but are often recommended for the potassium content. Have a banana!! :scared: (That is, if you're not in liquids, or otherwise forbidden... :welldone2:)
February 22, 200620 yr The only problem I have with bananas is that they can cause constipation. If this is something that you are dealing with already, you might want to eat them sparingly.
February 22, 200620 yr How do I get over this fear and start experimenting with new things? Fear was a good thing for me, it kept me from hurting myself and eating to much lol. Don't worry, you'll get over the fear of trying new stuff, just give it some time. Go slow and don't be in a hurry :welldone2:

Good point! that was my first naner in a month or more, so I think I'm doing the sparingly thing pretty well..lol:Banane37:
February 22, 200620 yr Fruits are alot better than alot of the stuff I eat sometimes, lol. I wish I had fruit cravings. :welldone2:

On diabetic diets they count as 2 fruit exchanges, on the new Weight Watchers diets they are 2 points, as opposed to 1 like most other fruits. Not only do they have twice as many calories, but their glycemic index is very high. They aren't too highly recommended for losing weight. Except with the band. =) I think they're a great band food. If the band is working properly, you're not going to be able to eat much more than a banana, and they are, as others have said, very sweet and very satisfying. My stomach's so messed up right now that they're one of the only fruits I *can* eat. For some reason, I can't get any skin down (apples, grapes, etc.). You can peel an apple, but peeling those grapes takes FOREVER. =)
February 23, 200620 yr Banannas were always a tough one for me to eat.. got stuck alot, gave me the golf ball feeling and made me constipated..If you are looking for a fruit with potassium, kiwis are loaded with it and are easier to get down for us bandsters. Just my opinion :welldone2:
February 23, 200620 yr ...but peeling those grapes takes FOREVER. =) I thought that's what women were for??? LOL
February 23, 200620 yr Donali, you shouldn't offer things like that, someone might take you up on it, lol
February 23, 200620 yr Author I thought that's what women were for??? LOL omg. did we just time travel back to the 1950's lmao girl..I say let the men peel their own fruit...and get their own beer too...:beard (im just givin ya a hard time dont take it seriously, ok cuz i know there seems to be sensitive people on here) :boxing:
