Are you drinking plenty of fluids? Drink drink drink and move around. I had the same problem and thought it was unbearable. I used the Gas x chewables and that helped along with moving around. the gas continues for me now and again, I just drink something hot and it helps too. I do more gas passing than burping and it feels great.

For three days after surgery, I would take my liquid pain killers and a gasex strip every 3 hours (as soon as I felt the pain coming back). I had to sleep in a semi-upright position as well. I walked as much as I could, but to be honest, I didn't walk much. This allowed me to heal and the gas pains and other pains subsided after 3 days. It took about a week before I could sleep horizontally and I only had gas pains on a sporadic basis (which the gasex strips eased). It took approximately 4 weeks to feel completely normal again.

Fluids and walking and mainly just the passage of time...this part sucks but it will be worth it.

There's a gas relief product called Phazime (sp?) Got rid of the gas after surgery in about 5 minutes. it's in a purple or pink box.
