3 Years After Lap Band Surgery

Recommended Posts

So almost 3 years ago (Dec 5, 2008) I was banded and it was working great for me. I was working the program (exercising daily and eating right) and I lost over a 100lbs. By my 1 year bandaversary I had been laid off from my job but was still working the program. By my 2 year bandaversary I was no longer working the program and hadn't had a fill in over a year. Here I am approaching my 3rd bandaversary and I still have not met my goal and struggle. Over the last two years I have gained some of the weight back. I am still down around 100 lbs but truth be told I have another 100lbs + to reach a healthy weight.

I have been struggling to get myself motivated once more about getting back on the program and start the weight loss again. I still feel a lot better than I did before surgery but I still need to lose a lot of weight. My eating habits are bad and I eat a lot more than I should be eating. At this point in time I feel like the band keeps the majority of the weight off and keeps it under control but it doesn't help me lose the weight. Perhaps once I am able to get another fill that will change again. I guess mainly I am posting here cause I am trying to remotivate myself into the weightloss mind set once more.

I really needed a Kick in the ass to get me back on track. Was having trouble and got away from everything I knew I was supposed to be doing. Tried to justify it because I was still exercising but the scale wasn't hearing my excuses. I felt like crap when it was time to go for my appointment, embarrased to go in and show a gain! Had to go back to the beginning- tracking everything Im eating and drinking, keeping track of when I ate so im not drinking to close together, no carbs, everything like I just got my band. Also I changed my exercise- signed up to run a 5k, etc.

Hard to find the motivation but you can get there_ Good luck

There is a little program called the 5 day pouch test that quite a few people have had some success with.

If you're really looking for a way to get back in the program, it's worth a try. It's free and sort of, begins

all over again, for a few days. You've got nothing to lose except a little weight. Look in the search box or Google.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
