lap band removal

Recommended Posts

I am considering having my band removed. I am 53, 5'3" and now 185. I had my lap band surgery 5 years ago. I would do it again in heart beat. The day of my surgery I weighed 254lbs. I am now having stomach problems, ulcers and acid reflux. I do want my band removed because I know my stomach will feel better. I am confindent that I will continue to be active and hopfully loose more weight. I can't seem to find answers as to what I do to prepare for the surgery, what I eat right before surgery, and right after. Can I swim right away? I have my doctor appointment next week to give my decision, but I feel they want me to have mini gastric surgery. I don't think I want to mess with my stomach anymore. I hope someone can help me. Lori

I am having my removed in two weeks. I had one put in 8 years ago but it has slipped. Has anyone had a second one put in? What has been your experience?

Lori congrats! You have done a great job. I have had my band for 8 years and recently found out it has slipped and will be removing it and replacing it. I lost just about 100 lbs with it. My first instinct was to remove the band because I did not want to have surgery again. My surgeon loosened it in December and I have been slowly gaining a few pounds. I know now I need this tool to keep the weight off. I can't let it go! I just hope the new one will continue working. I myself would never even think of having the gastric by-pass. That surgery is just not for me. This is a decision only you can make. I wish you much luck and just give yourself time to think it through.

Best wishes:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. ย Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! ๐Ÿ˜ž
