Reflux/Heartburn with Protein Shakes

I am on day 10 of the pre-op liquid diet, yesterday I could no longer take the reflux and heartburn and ate some grilled chicken, cheese and salad. No heartburn. I know that I am to be following the liver reduction plan and high protein for post op healing purposes but has anyone else experienced this horrible reflux and heartburn?? I already take prescription Prilosec daily, and have tried different kinds of protein powder (Nectar and Whey protein) to no avail. Any other suggestions?? Thanks for any input you may have.

I would call your NUT...

Besides that, you might want to try a lactose free shake...I like Isopure from GNC...

Also, what are you using to mix your shakes? You could try Water, soy milk, almond milk. Maybe that will help.

Also try MUSCLE MILK LIGHT. It is Lactose free. My supplier is on ebay, and she has two flavors at $5.99 a Jug (THAT'S CHEAP)

Strawberry Milkshake, and peanut butter chocolate blend.

Go to ebay type in Muscle Milk and look for $5.99 a Jug It will be MUSCLE MILK LIGHT. If you go into her store and search you will find the other flavor.

If you buy a few she will combine shipping. Tell her I told you about her site, might get you a break in shipping who knows.

But it is good stuff.

I don't know if you know it, but if you do a lot of WHEY, It can put weight on. Just a tip.

Good Luck, Shirley

Thanks for the help ladies. I went bought SILK milk and it really helped. Best thing I did though was looking up the receipe for protein ice cream and making a nice big bowl of chocolate ice cream-perfectly allowed on the pre=op made with protein powder and milk in the ice cream maker YUM!!!!!

I can't speak for all,,, but if you use only 4 ounces of Water instead of 8oz. (this is for the Muscle Milk) you can freeze it, and have a pudding, and still get your protein in.

Good Luck, Shirley.
