Therapy

Hi,

So I've started therapy because at my psych eval she thought it would be a good idea. So I went today and the therapist does not think I am ready to have lap band in April. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH crazy!! So now I don't know what to do. It has got me thinking but I have no other options and I really wanna lose this weight! Any advice out there??? What would u think or do??

Is that just her opinion or is that something she's going to submit to your sugeon? Only you truly know what you're ready for. It's good to take what she says into consideration and think about it but you're the one who will be committing and living a new eating lifestyle. Sounds like it's a complicated situation for you! I wish you the best!

No, it's nothing that is getting sent to the surgeon but just knowing she thinks I'm not ready gets me thinking.

See her for a little while. A therapist can help you see things you never realised and can help make you much more ready for the procedure and life after. Use this as a learning time to learn more about you, your needs to overeat, your needs to eat certain foods, your desire to have the surgery.

My therapy sessions were exceptionally helpful. But you have to be open to it. And your therapist can tell your Dr. that she doesn't think you're ready, so take her thoughts to heart and ask her to help you figure out why she's getting that vibe.
