BMI right on the border-34.5

I am 6'5" 291 32 y/o male. I am 4 lbs away from 35 BMI. I have been between 32-34.5 ish on BMI the last few years. Do I need to gain 4lbs to qualify at 35 (my insurance says 35BMI with a comorbidity and I have high BP and GERD)? Anyone have problems if you were a little less than 35 in the past 5 years?

Just spoke to my coordinator and she asked if I went under BMI because I did a test run on the pre-op diet... I was under and she told me, "you have to meet BMI from intake till they place you on the diet officially".

Needless to say, I was sad because who wants to gain weight?!?! But I hate to be denied over 0.5 under BMI.

BTW I am going through a bariatric center vs my PCP.

Good luck :)

Just drink a half gallon of water before going to your appointment.

Drink Water, wear heavy clothing and shoes and take Imodium two days before. You will be uncomfortable but will make weight.

I, unfortunately, did not have to do any of these things to be a BMI of 36. But that was then!
