no luck with diets

The doctor that will do my lab band surgery, if I decide to do it, requires that all patients do 3 weeks of all liquid diet preop. I am thinking that if I have the will power to do three weeks of liquid diet then I wouldn't be in this condition to start with. Any thoughts?

You can do anything for a couple of weeks. Just tell yourself that it is the last time in your life that you will need to be hungry in order to lose weight.

The reason that many surgeons require this pre op diet is not so much to lose weight, but rather to help shrink the size of your liver. When the surgeon performs this procedure he needs to lift up your liver and go in under it. Doing the liquid diet greatly reduces the risk of complications during surgery.
